Background The City of Wichita, the largest city in Kansas with a population of approximately 397,000, is seeking proposals for design services and project management for the renovation and enhancement of the Century II Expo Hall Promenade and Meeting Rooms. The selected design partner will lead the design phase and provide oversight during construction after a separate competitive bidding process for contractors. Work Details The awarded vendor will perform comprehensive professional services including: 1. **Design Phase Services**: - **Programming & Assessment**: Conduct site visits, stakeholder interviews, and facility assessments to identify functional, operational, and aesthetic needs. - **Conceptual & Schematic Design**: Develop multiple conceptual design options, provide schematic drawings and preliminary cost estimates, and present concepts to City staff. - **Design Development**: Refine selected designs into detailed documents with updated cost estimates. - **Construction Documents**: Prepare complete bid-ready drawings and specifications ensuring compliance with codes and standards. 2. **Coordination with Hyatt Regency Wichita & Petra Construction**: Participate in joint meetings to align designs between projects. 3. **Bid & Procurement Support**: Assist in preparing bid packages, respond to bidder questions, and evaluate bids. 4. **Construction-Phase Project Management**: Act as the City’s representative during construction, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with design intent. Period of Performance The contract period will be negotiated prior to execution but is expected to commence following proposal acceptance in May 2026. Place of Performance The project will be performed at the Century II Expo Hall located in Wichita, Kansas. Bidder Requirements Proposers must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar services, comply with all applicable laws, be registered with the Kansas Secretary of State before contract execution, possess necessary insurance coverage (including general liability and workers' compensation), and demonstrate capacity for project supervision.
