Background This Statement of Work (SOW) supports the mission of the United States Forest Service (USFS) to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands for the benefit of current and future generations. This initiative addresses systemic maintenance and critical infrastructure issues affecting the USFS tower inventory, ensuring these structures continue to support mission-critical operations. The contracted entity will operate independently to provide technical and logistical services in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Work Details The contract scope includes the following tasks: 1. Implement guy wire tensioning, including any minor repairs needed to achieve proper and uniform tension. 2. Install Lightning protection systems. 3. Corrosion abatement on tower and guy system. 4. Install industry designed mounting hardware for proper transmission line support. All tasks must adhere to applicable industry standards and best practices for specified tower structures. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary labor, tools, equipment, materials, and technical expertise to complete the work. Specific requirements include: - Tension all guy wires according to TIA-222 Rev. H specifications; - Perform corrosion abatement and control on tower and guy system; - Install industry designed mounting hardware for proper transmission line support; - Install lightning protection per supplied design; - Ensure grounding connections resistance meets NFPA 780 preferred standard of 10 ohms, with a maximum acceptable resistance of 25 ohms. Period of Performance All work described in this Statement of Work must be fully completed within 30 days of the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Place of Performance Guy wire tensioning and repair work will be performed at USFS field site.
