A component of the 1st Special Operations Wing (1 SOW), has an urgent and compelling need. To meet this accelerated schedule, the unit has identified the Chimera Group-1 sUAS as the most viable platform. This decision was based on the fact that the squadron has already established an initial cadre of operators, who are trained and certified on the Chimera system through the AFSOC-approved Oak Grove Technologies Initial Training Course. Procuring any other system would render this existing expertise obsolete and require the unit to restart the entire training and certification process, introducing unacceptable delays. Market research confirmed that Oak Grove Technologies is the sole manufacturer and only authorized provider of the Chimera sUAS and its proprietary, AFSOC-approved training course. The Government is aware that Oak Grove Technologies holds an established IDIQ contract (ACC-APG-RS3, W15P7T-19-D-0087); however, this vehicle is scoped for services only and cannot be used for the procurement of supplies. Due to the urgent operational timeline, the existence of a trained initial cadre, and the lack of any other viable source or contract vehicle for the required system and training, this acquisition is being pursued on a sole-source basis.
Background The 1st Special Operations Wing (1 SOW) has an urgent need for the Chimera Group-1 small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS). This decision is based on the existing expertise of operators trained and certified on the Chimera system through the AFSOC-approved Oak Grove Technologies Initial Training Course. The urgency of this requirement necessitates a sole-source acquisition from Oak Grove Technologies, which is the only manufacturer and authorized provider of the Chimera sUAS and its proprietary training course. The agency's mission is to fulfill operational requirements without introducing delays that would occur if a different system were procured. Work Details The contract will involve the procurement of Chimera Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) along with miscellaneous spare parts and supporting accessories. The specific items required include: - Chimera Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) - Miscellaneous spare parts - Supporting accessories. This procurement is being pursued on a sole-source basis due to the lack of alternative sources capable of meeting the urgent operational needs without unacceptable delays.
