Summary (Newest Update)

Background The United States Department of the Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC) is seeking to enter into a contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific, located in Carlsbad, CA, for the provision of services related to brand name equipment. This contract is being pursued on a basis of other than full and open competition due to the specific requirements of the equipment involved. The NMRC's mission includes supporting medical research and development, and this contract aims to ensure that their QuantStudio 5 qPCR instrument receives the necessary maintenance and support from an authorized vendor. Work Details The contractor will provide preventative maintenance services for the QuantStudio 5 qPCR instrument. The services include conducting a price analysis to determine that the anticipated costs are fair and reasonable. The contractor must be able to offer the AB Assurance 1PM Plan, which includes options for additional years of service. A market survey indicated that other vendors were either unable or unauthorized to service this specific equipment, making Thermo Fisher Scientific the only viable option for these services. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at locations designated by the Naval Medical Research Command, primarily in Silver Spring, MD.
