Background The Jersey City Public Schools is seeking proposals for Architectural/Engineering Services for the upgrade and replacement of fire alarm systems at 27 schools/locations. The goal of this project is to ensure that all fire alarm systems are fully operational and compliant with safety regulations, enhancing the safety of students and staff across the district. Work Details The successful bidder will be responsible for: - Reviewing existing information related to the project - Evaluating current facility conditions - Coordinating with ongoing projects - Recommending design options - Preparing project applications and design documents for each location as required by NJDOE and NJSDA - Determining necessary documentation for grant programs - Conducting meetings with district staff to finalize specifications - Providing meeting minutes - Preparing bid documents compliant with applicable codes and regulations - Conducting environmental testing for hazardous materials - Preparing cost opinions and schedules - Obtaining necessary permits - Assisting in bid evaluations and recommendations for construction contracts - Providing construction administration services throughout the project duration including weekly meetings and monitoring contractor progress. The fire alarm panels to be installed are EDWARDS EST PANEL. Specific components include various detectors (photo smoke detectors, addressable pull stations), monitoring relays/modules, remote annunciators, and horn strobe booster panels as detailed in Appendix B. Period of Performance All work must be completed within 60 days of the Notice to Proceed. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at various locations within Jersey City including: - PS 3 - PS 4 - PS 7 - PS 15 - PS 16 - PS 20 - PS 22 - PS 23 (Romaine) - PS 23 (Westside) - PS 24 - PS 26 - PS 28 - PS 39 - Glen Cunningham School - Caven Point Athletics Facility - Carpenter Shop - Electric Shop - JV Plaster Shop - Infinity Institute - Academy I Middle School - Ferris High School - Liberty High School - Lincoln Freshman Academy - Lincoln High School. Bidder Requirements Bidders must be prequalified by the NJ Schools Development Authority and NJ Department of Treasury in Architecture and/or Engineering for a minimum of $5 million architectural projects. They must have in-house capabilities or sub-consultants pre-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Fire Alarm Systems, and Environmental Consulting for hazardous materials. Proposals must include a list of at least five similar projects with client references.
