The AFWFB will requires two (2) wildland fire vehicle package builds/apparatus onto existing vehicle chassis. The requested services will install/build Fire related equipment and supply products onto existing 2024 Chevy K5500 4x4 (provided by the AFWFB). The requirement does not include purchasing a vehicle but attaches and installs equipment onto provided vehicles such as pumps, generators, hoses, hose fittings/reels, storage, containment, compartments, control panels, suppression equipment, compressors, valves, gauges, etc., as indicated below. The contractor shall provide and create an upgrade to the existing truck, converting it into a usable fire fighting vehicle (Type 6 Wildland Light Engine). The completed wildland fire vehicles will be primarily used in support of prescribed and wildland fire suppression activities in accordance with this specification.

Background The Air Force Wildland Fire Branch (AFWFB) is seeking to enhance its firefighting capabilities by converting existing vehicle chassis into operational wildland fire vehicles. The contract aims to build two (2) wildland fire vehicle packages on provided 2024 Chevy K5500 4x4 chassis, specifically designed for prescribed and wildland fire suppression activities. The contractor will be responsible for installing various firefighting equipment and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Work Details The contractor shall perform the following tasks: 1. Install fire-related equipment onto existing vehicle chassis, including pumps, generators, hoses, hose fittings/reels, storage compartments, control panels, suppression equipment, and other necessary components. 2. Upgrade the existing truck to a usable Type 6 Wildland Light Engine firefighting vehicle. 3. Ensure that all installations meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1900 standards for Wildland Fire Apparatus. 4. Conduct tilt table testing to verify stability under load conditions as per NFPA 1900 requirements. 5. Perform noise exposure tests to ensure maximum noise levels do not exceed 90 dBA in the cab during operation. 6. Provide documentation including warranty details, engineering drawings, and compliance certifications upon delivery of the completed vehicles. Period of Performance The contract will consist of one base year with an option for two additional years, starting in FY26 and potentially extending through FY30. Place of Performance The work will primarily take place at the contractor's facility where the vehicles will be built and tested.
