Background The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 7, intends to enter into a sole source contract with Medical University Hospital Authority for laboratory testing and specimen courier services. This contract aims to support the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center by providing urgent and specialized lab testing services that are not available at the facility. Work Details The contractor shall provide laboratory testing services for patient specimens that are urgent/emergent, highly specialized, and/or have limited viability. Testing includes Mycobacteria Stains, Microbiology Specimens, Histology Testing, Immunoperoxidase Stains, Transplant Compatibility Testing, Therapeutic Drugs, Bone Marrow Workup, Clotting Factors, Co-Oximetry Blood Gas, and Platelet Function assays. Turnaround time for STAT/emergent testing is 24 hours or less. Specific tasks include: - Accurate laboratory testing. - Co-Oximetry/Blood Gas Analysis results available within four hours. - Platelet Function Assay results available within four hours. - Transplant Compatibility and DSA testing for co-managed VA patients. - Bone Marrow initial assessments available within 24 hours for select/urgent cases. - Beta-2 Transferrin results available same day for select/urgent cases. - Test results provided within acceptable time frames via electronic access and faxed reports. - Specimen courier service picking up specimens Monday to Friday twice daily at approximately 09:00 AM and 04:00 PM, with additional scheduling available upon request. Period of Performance The period of performance is set for 12 months from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center located at 109 Bee Street, Charleston SC, 29403.
