Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the VISN 10 Dayton VA Medical Center, is seeking to address an urgent need for emergency repairs to sewer pipes located underneath Building 320 E pod. The existing sewer infrastructure has deteriorated, posing significant health risks due to sewage backup and leakage into the environment. This justification outlines the necessity for immediate action to replace broken pipes and restore proper sewage flow. Work Details The contractor will provide all necessary tools and materials to remove and replace broken sewer pipes, including up to 160 feet of 4-inch pipe. The project involves excavation both inside and outside the building to access the existing pipe, which must be entirely removed and replaced. Additionally, replacement cleanouts will be installed as previous cleanouts were buried under flooring materials. All floors and asphalt outside will also need to be replaced following the pipe replacement. The estimated cost for this project is $383,000. Period of Performance The contract is expected to commence immediately upon approval due to the urgent nature of the repairs required. Place of Performance The work will be performed at the Dayton VA Medical Center, specifically under Building 320 E pod.
