Background

The VA Saint Louis Health Care System, John Cochran Division, is seeking a Construction Contractor to replace critical elevator components in Building 1 at the John Cochran VAMC. This project aims to address outdated and failing elevator systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety for the facility's users. The procurement is set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) in accordance with 38 USC 8127(d) and Public Law 109-461.

Work Details

The scope of work includes: 1. Replacement of critical elevator components such as counterweight sheaves, compensation chains, and cable guards. 2. Specific tasks include: a. Counterweight Sheaves & Cable Guards: Removal of existing counterweight sleeved sheaves in six elevators (P1-P4, S5-S6) and installation of new counterweight sheaves outfitted with sealed bearings along with cable guards in these elevators. b. Compensation Chain Assembly: Removal of existing compensation chain assemblies in four elevators (P1-P4) and installation of new compensation rope assemblies in these elevators. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, materials, products, tools, equipment, and any other resources necessary for the completion of the work with a high level of quality and workmanship.

Period of Performance

The period of performance for this project is expected to be 365 calendar days after the issuance of construction Notice to Proceed (NTP).
