Background The Midland Independent School District (MISD) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide professional turf and landscaping maintenance services, along with the supply of landscaping parts, materials, and equipment for various MISD campuses, athletic fields, and undeveloped land. The goal of this contract is to ensure the maintenance and aesthetic upkeep of school grounds to support the educational environment. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following services: - Grass maintenance with specific heights (3" in spring/summer, 2" in fall/winter) and mowing frequency at least once every 7 days. Grass clippings must not be blown into streets or parking lots. - Cleaning duties include sweeping/blowing walkways clear of debris after each service and maintaining flowerbeds, gutters, and curbs. - Lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging (every 7 days from March to October), and trimming around obstacles while avoiding damage to trees and structures. - Tree, shrub, and flowerbed care including annual tree pruning, bi-weekly trimming of sucker growth and shrubs, monitoring for diseases/insects (at additional cost), and tree/shrub removal upon request. - Additional responsibilities include signing in/out at the main campus office for each visit, maintaining daily worker timesheets for the Grounds Foreman, and potentially extending services to undeveloped land or athletic fields upon request. Period of Performance The initial contract term is one year starting from July 1, 2026, with options to extend for up to two additional one-year periods by mutual agreement. Place of Performance Services will be provided at various MISD campuses grouped into East and West sections. A complete list of locations is available in Appendix A of the RFP document. Bidder Requirements Vendors must comply with Texas Government Code Chapter 2258 regarding prevailing wage rates. They are required to maintain general liability insurance ($1 million per occurrence) and workers' compensation insurance as per Texas law ($500,000). Vendors must also submit a complete price list/catalog with discounts or markups clearly specified.
