Background The City of Wichita, the largest city in Kansas with a population of approximately 397,000, is seeking proposals from firms to provide traffic control services for its Public Works & Utilities Department. The goal of this contract is to select multiple firms that can provide on-call traffic control services within the city. This initiative aligns with the city's mission to ensure safety and enhance infrastructure. Work Details The selected contractor(s) will be responsible for: A. Setup, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic control devices (cones, signs, arrow boards, barricades). B. Implementation of traffic control plans adhering to MUTCD and KDOT standards. C. Pavement striping and markings including centerlines, edge lines, crosswalks, symbols, arrows, and stop bars. D. Nighttime work or special-event traffic control as required. E. Emergency traffic control deployments with a response time within 2 hours of notification. F. Compliance with ADA regulations and all applicable City of Wichita requirements. G. Coordination with City project managers while maintaining safe access for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles within active work zones. Period of Performance The contract will be for one year with four one-year options to renew based on mutual agreement between the City and the contractor. Place of Performance The services will be performed within the City of Wichita, Kansas. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in providing similar services and must be registered with the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office prior to contract execution. They should comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and possess necessary insurance coverage as specified in the solicitation.
