Summary (Newest Update)

Background Ames National Laboratory, operated by Iowa State University under a Prime Contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking to acquire a turnkey, fully integrated system for laboratory use. The goal of this contract is to enhance the laboratory's capabilities in handling sensitive materials under controlled environments. Work Details The vendor shall provide a turnkey, fully integrated system that includes: - An inert-atmosphere glovebox with purification, antechambers, and continuous monitoring of oxygen (O2) and moisture (H2O). - A hydrogen-capable high-pressure split tube furnace equipped with a sealed Ni-based superalloy pressure-vessel tube of greater than 2-inch diameter (larger diameter preferred), including pressure measurement and safety protections. - A sealed glovebox-to-furnace transfer interface for sample insertion and extraction without exposure to ambient air. - A gas handling manifold for inert gas and hydrogen with leak detection, emergency shutoff, and relief/venting provisions. - A vacuum system for the furnace tube and glovebox antechambers. - On-site commissioning and operator training. Specific requirements for the glovebox include: - Acid-resistant 304 stainless steel construction; leak-tight enclosure suitable for ultra-dry inert operation. - Hinged/openable front window & access features; two glove ports with chemical-resistant gloves. - Purification system capable of achieving O2 < 1 ppm and H2O < 1 ppm at steady state. - Automatic pressure control with readback and alarm setpoints. Period of Performance Must deliver and install before March 15th. Place of Performance Ames National Laboratory, Ames, Iowa.
