Background The HBMC Automated Medication and Laboratory Supply Delivery/Retrieval Project is initiated by the East Hawaii Region of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) in collaboration with the Hilo Benioff Medical Center (HBMC). The project aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety in medication and lab supply management through an integrated robotic solution, particularly as the hospital prepares for an expansion that will increase patient care areas and delivery requirements. Work Details The selected vendor will design, supply, install, and support a comprehensive robotic system for pharmacy and laboratory departments that operates 24/7. Key components include: 1. Automated storage, retrieval, and dispensing capabilities integrated with pharmacy and laboratory workflows. 2. A system that minimizes human error in pharmacy and lab duties, allowing staff to focus on clinical responsibilities. 3. Coordination with existing elevator systems and security access controls for automated navigation. 4. Real-time documentation and tracking of products and specimens to improve the chain of custody. 5. Compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, FDA/USP standards, and local building codes. 6. Implementation of robotics for both pharmacy automation (≥95% delivery accuracy) and laboratory specimen handling, aiming for a ≥75% reduction in staff time spent on manual transport tasks. Period of Performance The contract will commence upon execution of the agreement, with a successful 90-day pilot term followed by a three-year term effective upon full execution. Place of Performance The work will be conducted on the campus of Hilo Benioff Medical Center located at 1190 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii. Bidder Requirements Vendors must have a minimum of three years' experience providing similar services in healthcare settings. They must certify that no services will be performed offshore and identify any subcontractors involved in the project.
