Sheriff's Office Expansion

Background

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is seeking bids for an expansion project located at 1345 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, VA. The project aims to construct a two-story addition of approximately 15,500 square feet to accommodate office, storage, and meeting spaces. It will also include a new elevator and entrance, along with renovations to certain areas of the existing building to reconfigure office spaces and add a new bathroom. The goal is to enhance the operational capacity of the Sheriff's Office without incorporating correctional or detainment functions.

Work Details

The scope of work includes: - Construction of a two-story addition (approximately 15,500 square feet) featuring office, storage, and meeting spaces. - Installation of a new elevator and entrance. - Renovation of limited areas within the existing building to reconfigure office spaces. - Addition of one new bathroom. - Other related work as indicated in the Contract Documents.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to be substantially completed within 485 consecutive calendar days from the date of contract award. Final completion shall be achieved within thirty (30) consecutive calendar days following substantial completion.

Place of Performance

The project will be performed at the Bedford County Sheriff's Office located at 1345 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, VA 24523.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered Class A contractors under Title 54.1, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia. Each bid must include a bid security amounting to five percent (5%) of the total bid. Successful bidders will also need to provide performance and payment bonds from a bonding company licensed in Virginia.
