Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Madison Wetland Management District intends to award a sole source purchase order to Heiman Fire Equipment. The goal of this contract is to procure specialized firefighting equipment that meets specific operational requirements for the agency's mission. Work Details The contract includes the provision of a Yanmar slip-in firefighting unit with the following specifications: - Tank: 51 inches width, 54 inches length, 31 inches height, with a capacity of 288 gallons of water. The tank is made out of polypropylene and includes a fill tower and a threaded drain port. - Usable space for the slip-in unit is 64 inches in length and 54 inches in width. - Pump: WATERAX VERSAX 9HP PUMP with Honda electric start, designed to sit behind the tank. - Pumping capabilities include drafting with a draft hose of 1.5 inches and connections to a hose reel with a hard line of 1 inch and 100 feet in length. The hose reel will be attached to the top of the tank. Period of Performance The geographic location(s) the product will be delivered to or performed at Bidder Requirements This opportunity is set aside for small businesses (Small Business Set Aside - Total (SBA)). Bidders must demonstrate their capability to provide the specified firefighting equipment as outlined. Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail) The notice indicates a confirmed incumbent relationship with Heiman Fire Equipment, referencing prior contract 140FS226P0156 (05/12/26–09/15/26) awarded to Heiman for $16,906. The prior work is described as an “ND FIRE ZONE - SKID UNIT (FIRE OPERATIONS),” which appears similar to the current requirement for specialized firefighting equipment, including a slip-in firefighting unit with specified tank and pump/plumbing configurations, suggesting this purchase may be a continuation or replacement of closely related fire operations equipment.
