Background The Martinsburg VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking to replace and remove the existing RTAA chiller serving the Surgical Suite in Building 500. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the new chiller installation meets all operational requirements and complies with VA standards. Work Details The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and coordination required for the following tasks: 1. **Pre-Work Responsibilities**: Conduct site verification of dimensions, utilities, and access; coordinate shutdowns with VA Facilities; establish safety perimeter; perform Lockout/Tagout of existing electrical service. 2. **Removal & Demolition**: Recover refrigerant per EPA regulations; disconnect power, controls, and chilled-water piping; provide crane and rigging for chiller removal; dispose of old chiller and debris. 3. **Installation of New Chiller**: Rig and set a new Trane CGAM-series chiller or equivalent on the existing pad; reconnect electrical service and control wiring; install new chilled-water piping with fittings and valves; install a heat trace system; insulate new piping. 4. **System Startup & Commissioning**: Fill system with water, bleed air from lines, perform factory-authorized startup per Trane requirements, confirm operation of safety systems, alarms, and BAS integration. 5. **Deliverables**: Completed startup documentation, O&M manuals, warranty documentation, as-built drawings showing modifications, on-site training for VA staff. Period of Performance The estimated period of performance for this contract is from June 17, 2026 to December 16, 2026. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center located at 510 Butler Avenue, Martinsburg WV 25405. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have experience in HVAC installation and maintenance. They are required to comply with OSHA regulations and VA safety standards. Self-performance is highly valued; any subcontracting must be authorized and will be heavily monitored.
