Background

The University of Kentucky is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide fireworks and special effects for various athletic events, including home football games at Kroger Field and basketball games at Rupp Arena. This initiative aims to enhance fan engagement and the overall game-day experience while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The University emphasizes the importance of innovative pyrotechnic displays that align with its branding and safety standards.

Work Details

The contractor will provide pyrotechnic services for approximately 20 home basketball games and multiple home football games, specifically during night events. For football games, the contractor must supply six technicians, including one federally licensed pyrotechnician, to manage the setup and execution of approximately 138 four-inch proximate mines per game. Additionally, they will create UK-branded presentation boxes for on-field effects. For basketball games, the contractor will provide 36 RTG20 hot burst loud report airburst charges to be detonated from the arena ceiling. The contractor must ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal laws regarding pyrotechnics.

Period of Performance

The contract is set to begin upon award and will last for one year, with the possibility of four additional one-year renewals based on performance satisfaction.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at Kroger Field in Lexington, KY for football games and Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center for basketball games.

Bidder Requirements

Offerors must demonstrate a minimum of three years of experience in providing pyrotechnic services for NCAA Division I or comparable large-scale events. They must also provide evidence of their qualifications, including certified financial statements for the past three years and references from previous clients. Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding pyrotechnics is mandatory.
