New Century AirCenter Runway 18/36 Reconstruction Project

Background

The Johnson County Airport Commission (JCAC) is issuing a solicitation for the Reconstruct Runway 18/36 Project at the New Century AirCenter (IXD). The project aims to enhance the airport's infrastructure, ensuring safety and efficiency in air traffic operations. The contract encompasses comprehensive reconstruction efforts, including site preparation and installation of various materials and systems necessary for runway functionality.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all materials, labor, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary to reconstruct Runway 18/36. Key tasks include: - Site preparation with approximately 122,210 cubic yards (CY) of excavation and 8,052 CY of off-site borrow. - Installation of approximately 158,500 square yards (SY) of combined aggregate base course and 147,000 SY of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavement. - Application of 177,200 square feet (SF) of pavement marking and drainage improvements. - Installation of approximately 113,200 linear feet (LF) of combined electrical cabling and new signage. - Seeding and mulching over an area of 100 acres. Alternative work may include constructing a new run-up apron for Runway 36 with additional aggregate base course and PCC pavement installations, rehabilitating Taxiway L lighting, and seal coating Taxiways A and F.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence within ten calendar days following the issuance of a Notice to Proceed by the Owner. The substantial completion timeline will be specified in the Agreement.

Place of Performance

The project will take place at the Johnson County New Century AirCenter located in New Century, Kansas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit a bid bond equal to five percent (5%) of their total bid amount from a surety company licensed in Kansas. Compliance with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements is mandatory; however, the established DBE goal for this project is set at 0.0%. Bidders must also complete a Buy American certification as part of their submission. Compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act regarding wage rates is required.
