Background

The City of Bridgeport is seeking bids for Heavy Duty Equipment Repair services to establish a contract with qualified contractors for the repair and parts services of heavy-duty trucks cab and chassis, including but not limited to Mack and Freightliner. The goal is to obtain firm fixed hourly labor rates and pricing information for repairs needed by the City and its agencies, including the Board of Education, during the fiscal year 2027, which ends on June 30, 2027.

Work Details

The contractor will provide repair and parts services for heavy-duty trucks cab and chassis on an as-needed basis. Specific tasks include brake repair/replacement, engine and transmission work, springs, welding body repair, and body fabrication. The contractor must hold all parts removed during the rebuilding process for inspection prior to disposal. All parts and materials used must meet or exceed manufacturer specifications. A fixed percentage markup over vendor cost for replacement parts is required. The contractor must also deliver/pick up equipment as needed. Bids will only be considered from vendors licensed by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles with at least two years of experience in heavy equipment repair.

Period of Performance

The contract will cover a one-year period with an option for two annual extensions if agreed upon by all parties.

Services will be performed in Bridgeport, Connecticut, or nearby surrounding locations.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed in Connecticut and have valid SAM, DUNS, CT, and Federal Tax ID numbers prior to commencing work. Out-of-state bidders must provide a Certificate of Authority to Do Business in Connecticut within five days of a Notice of Intent to Award. No subcontracting is allowed. A satisfactory Certificate of Insurance (COI) will be required prior to award.
