START Bus Capital Plan: Bus Fleet Replacement and Expansion (2027-2031)

A recent meeting document Teton County - START Board Regular Meeting Packet - 2026-05-28 indicates a future potential acquisition START's Five-Year Capital Plan calls for the replacement and expansion of its bus fleet to support the new service network and maintain a state-of-good-repair. The plan includes: 1) Replacing one 40-foot bus with a diesel/electric hybrid and purchasing two new 30-foot expansion buses for the Town Shuttle in FY27; 2) Purchasing a replacement ADA service van in FY28; 3) Purchasing another replacement 40-foot hybrid bus in FY31. The plan also notes that additional vehicles (including one more 40-foot bus) may be required if vision plan service expansions are funded. All vehicle purchases are to follow START's fleet replacement schedule and sustainability goals. These procurements will require competitive solicitations for bus manufacturers and may include technology upgrades (automatic passenger counters, fare collection systems) as part of vehicle specs.
