Background

The City of Omaha is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the demolition of nine structures as part of its urban renewal efforts. This initiative aims to enhance community safety and aesthetics by removing dilapidated buildings. The contract includes provisions for Small and Emerging Small Business (SEB) participation, emphasizing the city's commitment to supporting local businesses.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the complete demolition of nine specified structures, including the removal of all non-masonry materials, concrete walls, floors, footings, and foundations. The work also includes: - Backfilling excavations with clean fill dirt. - Removal of foundation walls and footings from garages unless otherwise specified. - Demolition of private concrete, asphalt, crushed rock, or brick driveways and sidewalks. - Clearing all trash, rubbish, and debris from the site. - Removal of any trees four inches in diameter or less within five feet from any structure. - Compliance with local regulations regarding notifications to utility companies prior to demolition work.

Period of Performance

The contract work must commence within fourteen calendar days after the contract award and must be fully completed within thirty calendar days thereafter. An additional fifteen calendar days may be granted for structures containing asbestos.

Place of Performance

The demolition will take place at various locations within the City of Omaha as specified in the bid documents.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a bid bond or acceptable substitute as specified in the solicitation documents. The surety company issuing the bond must be licensed in Nebraska. Bidders are required to comply with SEB participation requirements and submit a SEB Participation Disclosure Form with their bid response. Additionally, bidders must hold a valid Building Wrecker's License and Permit Bond as required by city ordinances.
