Aggregate Crushing Services

Background

The Town of Needham, through its Department of Public Works, is seeking bids for Aggregate Crushing Services. This contract aims to provide onsite crushing and screening of stockpiled aggregate material located at the Recycling & Transfer Station. The goal is to convert the stockpiled material into usable gravel and riprap, enhancing the Town's recycling efforts and infrastructure maintenance.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: - Mobilization of crushing and screening equipment; - Crushing and screening of approximately 1,400 cubic yards of aggregate material; - Management of oversized material; - Stockpiling processed materials onsite as directed by the Director of Public Works. The primary product expected is 2-inch minus gravel suitable for reuse, with a secondary product being 6-inch riprap with minimal fines. All work must comply with Town specifications, and blasting is not permitted under this contract.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon execution and must be completed by June 30, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Recycling & Transfer Station located at 1421 Central Avenue, Needham, MA.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide proof of a minimum of three continuous years in business and submit references for five projects of similar nature completed within the last five years. A bid deposit of 5% is required. Bidders must also comply with all applicable OSHA regulations, state and federal safety requirements, and Town safety policies.
