Pavement Marking Program

Background

The City of Davenport is seeking bids from qualified contractors to provide pavement marking services for the 2026 painting season. This contract aims to enhance public safety and traffic management through the application of pavement markings, including crosswalks, stop bars, and symbols throughout the city. The service contract is for one year with an option for a one-year renewal.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for providing pavement marking services that include: - Repainting existing stop bars, crosswalks, and symbols; - Applying water-based traffic paint and glass beads that meet Iowa Department of Transportation specifications; - Ensuring the paint is applied to clean, dry pavement; - Managing traffic control during the painting process. Specific requirements include: - Crosswalk lines must be six inches wide with a wet thickness of sixteen mils; - Applying six pounds of beads per gallon of paint; - Preventing tracking of wet paint; - Grinding off any tracked paint and repainting as directed by the City at no cost; - Legal disposal of empty paint containers; - Notifying the City 24 hours in advance before starting work. The contractor must complete all school zone markings before August 23 each year and all other work by October 1.

The services will be performed throughout the City of Davenport, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide proof of authorization to transact business in Iowa, maintain an office in Iowa suitable for business operations, have been conducting business in Iowa for at least three years prior to bid submission, and not be a subsidiary unless it qualifies as a resident bidder. Additionally, bidders must submit a completed Bidder Status Form and provide insurance certificates evidencing statutory worker's compensation and liability coverage.
