Background The United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS) is conducting a Sources Sought Notice (SSN) for the purpose of market research regarding the rehabilitation of the Visitor Center at Effigy Mounds National Monument located in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. The goal is to gather information about interested businesses and their qualifications to inform the acquisition strategy and determine potential set-asides for small businesses. Work Details The project involves comprehensive rehabilitation of the Visitor Center, including: - Foundation improvements; - Remodeling of the basement and main floor; - Selective demolition; - Hazardous materials removal; - Installation of a new HVAC system; - Upgrades to electrical systems, domestic water supply, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems; - Installation of new windows and doors; - Interior and exterior building finishes; - Roofing; - Addition of insulation at foundation, exterior walls, and attic; - Structural changes including relocating columns and adding new beams for code compliance; - Moving/modifying interior partitions; - Relocating restrooms with new plumbing and electrical fixtures, toilet partitions, wall paneling, epoxy flooring, and accessories; - Elevator tune-up; - Construction of a new entry plaza. Additionally, vehicle and pedestrian circulation improvements will include parking lot drainage improvements, a redesigned parking lot layout with curbs and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and enhancements to park staff maintenance areas. Period of Performance The anticipated period of performance is 450 calendar days, which includes potential weather-related shutdowns as well as seasonal shutdowns mandated during the construction season.
