Construction of Pilot Medians for Landscape Master Plan

Background

The City of Palm Desert is a charter city located in the Coachella Valley in Eastern Riverside County, California. It serves approximately 50,000 full-time residents and an additional 32,000 seasonal residents. The City aims to enhance its landscape through the construction of pilot medians as part of its Median Landscape Master Plan, which aligns with the City’s landscape standards.

Work Details

The project involves constructing landscape improvements at three locations: - The center median of Country Club Drive between Monterey Avenue and Portola Avenue, - The center median of Country Club Drive between Portola Avenue and Cook Street, - The center median of Via Cinta. The contractor will provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, supervision, traffic control, utility coordination, and incidental work necessary to complete the project. Major components include mobilization, clearing and grubbing, dust control, landscape grading, soil preparation, irrigation and electrical connections, plant installation, boulder and decomposed granite installation, stone paving, maintenance, plant establishment, and warranty-related replacement work. Additionally, the contractor must prepare a detailed traffic control plan for review and approval before commencing construction.

Period of Performance

The work is expected to commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed by the City following contract award. All work must be completed within 90 days from this commencement date.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at specified locations within Palm Desert, California.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed contractors in California with classifications C-27 (Landscape Contractor) and C-10 (Electrical Contractor). They must also register with the Department of Industrial Relations to perform public work. Bids must include a bid guarantee of at least 10% of the total bid price. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is required for all bidders to ensure understanding of project scope.
