Background

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is issuing this solicitation for traffic barrier upgrades in various locations across Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties. The goal of the contract is to enhance safety by upgrading existing traffic barriers to comply with the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) standards.

Allegany County

• MD 36 – MD 935 to Bridge No. 1014 (MP. 6.75 to 8.55) NOT ON NHS. • MD 36 – North Corp. Limits of Midland to MD 55 (MP. 11.32 to 14.10) NOT ON NHS. • US 40 AL. – MD 658 to Cumberland City Limits (MP. 8.00 to 12.00) NOT ON NHS.

Garrett County

• MD 495 – Struct. 11061 to Glendale Road (MP. 6.45 to 9.10) NOT ON NHS. • US 50 – US 219 to Table Rock Road (MP. 2.08 to 4.50) NOT ON NHS.

Washington County

• MD 34 – W.V. Line to Sharpsburg (MP. 0.20 to 2.95) NOT ON NHS. • MD 550 – MD 491 to Pen Mar Road (MP. 1.42 to 2.01) NOT ON NHS. • US 40 – MD 66 to Frederick Co. Line (MP. 42.50 to 45.95) NHS. • US 340 – W.V. Line to Frederick Co. Line (MP. 0.43 to 2.27) NHS. - The work will consist of: (a) Upgrading existing traffic barriers. (b) Installing post-mounted delineators on traffic barriers.

Period of Performance

The bid letting for this project is scheduled for June 18, 2026, with the contract performance period commencing thereafter as specified in the awarded contract.
