Background The Springfield Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) is a Department of Defense (DoD) facility responsible for processing Armed Forces applicants. The contractor must enter through the Patriot Avenue gate and undergo a 100 percent accountability check, which takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Meals must be furnished from the specified establishment, and subcontracting is only allowed with prior written consent. All food delivered must come from a sanitarily approved source as per AR 40-657. Facilities must pass a Veterinary Service Food Protection Audit. The contractor is responsible for maintaining compliance with sanitation standards and must inform the contracting officer immediately if their facility loses its sanitary approval.
