Background The West Virginia Purchasing Division is soliciting bids on behalf of the West Virginia Veterans Home to establish a contract for Pharmacist Consulting. This procurement may be funded in whole or part by federal funds. The goal of the contract is to ensure effective supervision of the agency’s drug distribution system and pharmaceutical services. Work Details The Pharmacist will be responsible for the general supervision of the WVVH’s drug distribution system and pharmaceutical services, which includes: 1. General review of procedures for control and accountability of all drugs and biologicals to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. 2. Review of procedures for accurate acquiring, receiving, dispensing, and administering drugs to meet resident needs. 3. Maintenance of detailed records for controlled substances to allow accurate reconciliation. 4. Monthly destruction of scheduled drugs. 5. Semiannual review of labeling for compliance with professional standards and regulations. 6. Monthly review of medication regimens for irregularities, notifying appropriate personnel if changes are needed. 7. Provision of monthly in-service education programs for staff as requested by the Administrator, conducted by a licensed pharmacist or qualified designee, with records maintained. The Pharmacist must also arrange for another licensed pharmacist to provide services during any absence. Period of Performance The contract will be performed during the term specified in the agreement, which will be determined upon award. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the West Virginia Veterans Home located at 512 Water Street Barboursville, WV 25504. Bidder Requirements Vendors must ensure that their pharmacists are licensed to practice pharmacy in West Virginia and covered by adequate professional liability and malpractice insurance throughout the term of the agreement.
