Background The Illinois Veterans’ Home Chicago, part of the State of Illinois, is seeking a vendor to provide snow removal and de-icing services. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and accessibility of the facility during winter weather conditions by effectively managing snow and ice accumulation. Work Details The vendor will provide all labor, equipment, tools, and materials necessary for snow removal and de-icing services at the Illinois Veterans Home Chicago located at 4250 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60634. Services will be provided on an as-needed basis when snow accumulation equals or exceeds 2 inches or ice accumulation equals or exceeds 1/8 inches. Specific tasks include: - Clearing snow and ice from two parking lots, a circle driveway in front and rear of the building, a dock area, parking lot, dock lift, and three dumpsters. - Applying salt melt (Calcium Chloride or approved substitute) to prevent ice formation. - Responding to service calls within 1 hour and dispatching within 2 hours of notification. - Providing regular updates to the Facility’s Engineering Department regarding snow removal status. - Generating work reports for each shift detailing equipment used and hours worked. - Ensuring that precipitation does not accumulate in large piles obstructing access to parking spaces. - Manually removing precipitation in areas inaccessible by mechanical equipment. Period of Performance The contract will have an initial term of 12 months commencing upon the last dated signature of the Parties. The maximum total term shall not exceed ten (10) years. Bidder Requirements Vendors must comply with prevailing wage laws and provide proof of insurance including General Commercial Liability insurance ($1 million per occurrence), Auto Liability ($1 million per occurrence), and Worker’s Compensation Insurance as required by law. Subcontractors are allowed but must be disclosed if their annual value exceeds $100,000.
