Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is seeking to enhance visitor experience at the Wapato Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) located in Sherwood, Oregon. The goal of this contract is to design, fabricate, and install an orientation kiosk, interpretive panels, and an entrance sign that will provide information about the refuge's mission, rules, and unique wildlife. The project aims to welcome visitors and educate them about the natural environment and cultural significance of the area. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Design and installation of a multi-sided orientation kiosk that includes information on the National Wildlife Refuge System, Wapato Lake NWR specifics, rules and regulations, a visitor map, and wildlife/habitat details. The kiosk should incorporate local tribal art in its design. 2) Landscape design around the entrance area to enhance the kiosk's visibility while ensuring compliance with ADA guidelines. This includes using native plants and large barrier stones to prevent vehicle access to the kiosk area. 3) Fabrication of outdoor interpretive panels using high-pressure laminate materials that are contour cut. 4) Conducting site visits for familiarity with the refuge and conducting briefings with project officers for design approvals. 5) Providing detailed drawings at various completion milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, 100%) including all necessary specifications for materials and hardware. 6) Writing and editing text for interpretive content based on research and interviews with subject matter experts. Period of Performance The contract period is from January 19, 2026, to November 30, 2026. Place of Performance The work will be performed at Wapato Lake National Wildlife Refuge located adjacent to Gaston, Oregon.
