Summary (Newest Update)

Background The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is issuing a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a study contract focused on the Gateway Quick Disconnect (GQDC). This contract aims to support Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Extravehicular Robotic Activity (EVR) servicing of Active Thermal Control System (ATCS) pump packages on Gateway and similar future missions. The GQDC is designed to provide functions similar to the heritage Fluid Quick Disconnect Coupling (FQDC) used on the International Space Station (ISS), with modifications to meet specific operational and environmental requirements. NASA will coordinate with international partners regarding this project, which seeks to assess feasibility, cost, schedule, and other impacts of delivering GQDC hardware. Work Details The tasks under this contract include: 1. Hosting a project kick-off meeting virtually or in-person with attendance from international partners. Following this, monthly project update reviews will be conducted with NASA. If necessary, separate meetings may be scheduled for technical discussions regarding the Interface Control Document (ICD) for pump packages, integration, or delivery schedules. 2. Developing a conceptual design of the GQDC that sufficiently mitigates design and manufacturing risks while also creating plans for the delivery of flight and spare hardware. Vendors must provide details of recent experience in designing and manufacturing Fluid Transfer Couplers or Quick Disconnects for Internal or External Vehicular Activity related to active thermal control systems. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at Stennis Space Center, MS 39529-6000.
