Well 4 Upgrades

Background

The City of Huntington Beach is issuing a solicitation for the construction of upgrades to the existing Well 4 facility, which discharges groundwater into the Peck Reservoir. The project aims to enhance the water production capabilities and infrastructure of the facility, ensuring compliance with operational standards and improving service delivery.

Work Details

The project includes the demolition and removal of the existing well pump building and foundation, field instruments, electrical systems, well tubing, and wellhead piping. The existing leased well pump and associated equipment will be salvaged for pickup by the leasing firm. Key upgrades involve: - A new 75 Hp well pump - New tubing - A new well-head - Modifications by a specialized well reconditioning firm as a subcontractor to the general contractor - Construction of a new building with concrete foundation and slab - Installation of discharge steel fusion bonded epoxy lined pipe (6” to 12” in diameter) - A hydraulically controlled pressure sustaining valve with flow metering and monitoring system - Centrifugal liquid-solids separator - Various valves, field instruments & appurtenances - 480VAC electrical gear along with pump VFD. PLC programming will be handled by the City’s controls configuration firm separately from the general contractor's work. Additionally, demolition of the Well 4 chlorine building is an optional scope item that may be authorized during the project.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to be completed within 240 working days from the date of the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Well 4 facility located in Huntington Beach.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have at least ten years of experience in constructing and installing water production facilities with specific emphasis on establishing and equipping water wells. Bidders are required to provide proof of registration with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) for both themselves and all subcontractors at the time of bid submission.
