The Jekyll Island State Park Authority (JIA), a public corporation of the State of Georgia, is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to qualified contractors for the construction of four pedestrian and bike bridges within Jekyll Island's new wildlife conservation corridor. The goal is to select a partner who will contribute to the development of this conservation project, enhancing recreational opportunities while preserving the island's natural beauty. JIA manages and conserves Jekyll Island, which is a significant tourist destination known for its unique ecological and historical resources.
The project involves constructing four bridges with specific designs and materials: 1. Bridge 1: A 60-foot ADA compliant arched bridge with 40-inch sides and aluminum handrails, including costs for demolition of the existing bridge. 2. Bridge 2: A 40-foot flat bridge made with Wear Deck decking material and sides featuring coated wire mesh panels. 3. Bridge 3: A 25-foot flat bridge also using Wear Deck decking material and coated wire mesh panels for sides. 4. Bridge 4: A 30-foot flat bridge constructed similarly to Bridges 2 and 3. Material specifications include: - JIA will provide all Wear Deck materials (Corning Wear Deck 1”x6”x16’ - Gray) and screws (Simpson DCU 10x2-3/4 316SS Screws). - Coated wire mesh panels (48” x 96”, 2”x2” openings, 0.105” thick) will also be provided by JIA. - All lumber must be salt-treated (Kiln Dried .65 ACQ) and all fasteners/hardware must be stainless steel.
The project must be completed and final billed by January 31, 2027.
The construction will take place within the wildlife conservation corridor on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Respondents must meet all legal requirements to do business in Georgia, including E-Verify registration, workers’ compensation insurance, Drug-Free Workplace compliance, and obtaining necessary permits or licenses. Background checks may be conducted on key personnel involved in the project.
