Pond Overlook Platforms

Background

The Jekyll Island State Park Authority (JIA), a public corporation of the State of Georgia, is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to qualified contractors for the construction of four pond overlook platforms and the installation of approximately 1,000 linear feet of fencing. This project is part of JIA's efforts to develop a wildlife conservation corridor on Jekyll Island, balancing the preservation of natural resources with recreational opportunities for visitors. The goal is to enhance the conservation project and create lasting impressions on this unique coastal habitat that attracts over 3.5 million visitors annually.

Work Details

The project involves constructing four 12' x 16' covered overlook platforms at two ponds (Oleander Pond and Amphitheater Pond) with ADA-compliant walkways. Specific details include:

Oleander South

1 platform with a connected walkway (5' wide, 120' long).

Oleander North

1 platform with a connected walkway (5' wide, 120' long).

Amphitheater South

1 platform with a connected walkway (5' wide, 50' long).

Amphitheater North

1 platform with a connected walkway (5' wide, 10' long). Additionally, approximately 1,000 linear feet of fencing will be installed, including one manually operated self-closing gate. The fencing must match the platforms and walkways and be constructed from PVC coated wire mesh with an angled top plate. Material specifications include Wear Deck materials provided by JIA for decking and stainless-steel screws/hardware for construction.

Period of Performance

The project must be completed and final billed by January 31, 2027.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in and along two ponds within Jekyll Island’s new wildlife conservation corridor.

Bidder Requirements

Respondents must comply with all legal requirements to do business in Georgia, including participation in E-Verify for lawful presence verification. They must also obtain necessary permits or licenses to fulfill contract obligations. Additionally, bidders should have experience in similar projects and may be subject to background checks.
