Background

The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE) is issuing a grant solicitation for the Massachusetts Inclusive Postsecondary Education (MAIPSE) Planning program for FY27. This state-funded competitive grant aims to foster partnerships among public high schools, families, adult service agencies, and public colleges/universities to develop inclusive postsecondary education programs for students with severe disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism. The goal is to create structured planning processes that lead to inclusive educational opportunities on campus for eligible students over the age of 18.

Work Details

The MAIPSE Planning grant will support partnerships that develop comprehensive strategic action plans aimed at facilitating the inclusion of students with severe disabilities in college courses and residence life. Key activities include: 1. Developing academic, social, functional, and employment skills related to post-secondary goals. 2. Providing opportunities for inclusion in credit and non-credit courses alongside non-disabled peers. 3. Establishing linkages with adult agencies and organizations. 4. Promoting participation in college community life and career planning activities such as job-shadowing and internships. 5. Supporting students aged 18-22 who are eligible for special education services through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 6. Supporting students aged 18+ in residence life with necessary accommodations and supports.

The contract duration is from July 1, 2026, upon approval, until August 31, 2027.
