Rehabilitate Runway 6-24

Background

The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is seeking sealed bids for the rehabilitation of Runway 6-24 at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport in Roanoke, Virginia. This project is part of the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and aims to enhance the operational capacity and safety of the runway, which is critical for airport operations.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and performing all work necessary to rehabilitate Runway 6-24. Key tasks include: - Preparation and removal of existing pavements (Item P-101). - Excavation, subgrade preparation, and embankment (Item P-152). - Use of Controlled Low-Strength Material (CLSM) as specified (Item P-153). - Installation of a Crushed Aggregate Base Course (Item P-209). - Application of Asphalt Mix Pavement (Item P-401). Additional work includes installation of lighting systems, joint sealants for pavements, runway marking, and turfing activities such as seeding and mulching. The contractor must also adhere to federal contract provisions including Davis-Bacon Wage Rates.

Period of Performance

The contract period will commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed and is expected to be completed by May 2026.

The work will be performed at Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport located in Roanoke, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide evidence of competency and financial responsibility at the time of bid opening. This includes past experience on similar projects and a list of available equipment and key personnel. Bidders must also comply with prequalification regulations set by the Owner and may need to furnish performance bonds guaranteeing completion of the work.
