Fire Extinguisher Full-Service Maintenance including Inspections & Testing

Background

The City of Buffalo is seeking proposals from experienced contractors to provide full-service maintenance, including inspections and testing, for fire extinguishers across various city-owned buildings. The goal is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local fire safety regulations, particularly the NYS Fire Prevention and Building Code and NFPA 10 standards. The contract will initially be for one year with an option to renew for four additional one-year terms at the City's discretion.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Annual inspections of approximately 250 fire extinguishers located in various city buildings and parks. 2. Full-service maintenance including: - Checking gauge pressure and condition of the extinguisher. - Inspecting hoses, valves, and shells for damage or corrosion. - Performing hydrostatic testing as required. - Recharging extinguishers when necessary. - Providing detailed reports of inspections including deficiencies and corrective actions taken. 3. Replacement of defective units as needed, with costs included in the service rates established during the proposal process.

Period of Performance

The initial contract term is one year, with options to renew for up to four additional one-year periods at the City's discretion.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various City of Buffalo owned and occupied buildings and parks throughout the city.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have at least five years of experience in fire extinguisher maintenance services, possess all necessary licenses and insurance, and provide a minimum of three references from previous clients. Bidders must also comply with New York State Labor laws regarding prevailing wage rates.
