Background The Ames Laboratory, operated by Iowa State University under a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, conducts fundamental and applied research in chemistry, physics, and materials science. The goal of this contract is to procure high-quality compressed scientific gases, liquid nitrogen, and liquid helium to support the Laboratory's research efforts and enhance national security. Work Details The Supplier shall provide gas cylinders and liquid nitrogen/helium on an as-needed basis, ensuring the highest purity and quality. The following are the estimated inventory items required: - Gas, Air Breathing, Industrial Grade, Size 200, Supplier owned, 225 CF - 50 CYL - Gas, Argon, HP Grade, 99.995%, Size 200, Supplier owned, 280 CF - 250 CYL - Gas, Argon, UHP Grade, 99.999%, Size 300, Supplier owned, 331 CF - 250 CYL - Liquid Nitrogen and Helium in various sizes and purities as specified in the SOW. The Supplier must also provide an e-commerce platform for order placement and ensure automatic replenishment of Laboratory-owned cylinders. Period of Performance The geographic location(s) the product will be delivered to or performed at. Place of Performance Deliveries are to be made to Ames Laboratory’s Warehouse at 2437 Kooser Drive, Ames, Iowa, 50011. Bidder Requirements Suppliers must provide company-owned or rental vehicles that are properly insured for delivery to the Laboratory site. They must also ensure that all cylinders are leak-free prior to delivery. Additionally, suppliers should have capabilities for monitoring cylinder conditions including valve replacements and hydrostatic testing.
