Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Jackson, MS, is seeking to address an emergency interim staffing need for Pathologist services due to critical shortages within the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. The goal of this contract is to provide on-site professional laboratory services by a qualified pathologist who can perform independently upon arrival, ensuring continuity of operations and safe delivery of pathology services. Work Details The Contractor shall provide on-site Professional Laboratory Services for an as-needed Pathologist at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC. The contractor's personnel must adhere to quality assurance standards established by The Joint Commission and the Veterans Health Administration, performing in accordance with ethical, professional, and technical standards consistent with VA policy. Key responsibilities include: - Providing comprehensive Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Services including Surgical Pathology, Cytology (both GYN and Non-GYN), Frozen sections, Histopathology, and Oral Pathology. - Ensuring all personnel are credentialed and privileged according to VHA Handbook 1100.19 and VHA Directive 2012-030. - Completing all required training mandated by the VA, including annual training on topics such as Active Threat Training, Government Ethics, Military Sexual Trauma for Medical Providers, and more. - Maintaining compliance with patient safety standards and reporting any incidents within 24 hours. - Submitting timely invoices by the 5th day of each month. Period of Performance Base period from June 20, 2026 to June 19, 2027; Option 1 from June 20, 2027 to June 19, 2028; Option 2 from June 20, 2028 to June 19, 2029. Place of Performance G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC, 1500 E Woodrow Wilson Dr., Jackson, MS 39216. Bidder Requirements Bidders must ensure that their pathologist(s) have a current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Mississippi and be board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. All licenses must be full and unrestricted; any past restrictions or suspensions disqualify candidates. Additionally, contractors must provide documentation verifying current certification annually and ensure that all personnel meet VA educational requirements including Basic Life Support certification.
