Transfer Station Retaining Wall Repair

Background

The Town of Wells, Maine is seeking bids for the repair of the retaining wall at the Wells Transfer Station. The goal of this contract is to enhance safety at the material drop-off waste bins by repairing and replacing damaged portions of the existing retaining wall. The project is overseen by Michael W. Pardue, the Town Manager.

Work Details

The contractor will perform repairs to the existing bin block wall, which includes: 1) Removal of Bituminous Pavement and Excavation of Soils; 2) Removal of Damaged Blocks and Installation of New Blocks; 3) Temporary Wall Shoring and Steel Embedments; 4) Backfilling Wall, Placement of Flowable Fill, and Pavement; 5) Installation of Safety Gates & Guardrails; 6) Site Cleanup. Specific tasks include sawcutting pavement, removing and disposing of damaged blocks, resetting existing lower blocks to plumb alignment, installing new precast blocks, bracing the wall during backfilling, installing drainage systems, and restoring pavement areas. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and supervision necessary to complete all work as described in the Bid Documents.

Period of Performance

Work shall commence within ten (10) calendar days of Notice to Proceed and be substantially complete within sixty (60) calendar days.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Wells Transfer Station located at 208 Sanford Road, Wells, Maine.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must submit proposals on their stationery in a sealed envelope clearly marked for the Town of Wells Transfer Station Retaining Wall Repair. The Town reserves the right to award based on either Base Bid or Alternate Bid No. 1. Bidders must comply with all specifications outlined in the bid documents.
