Athletic Fields Maintenance

Background

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is responsible for maintaining over 20,000 acres of greenspace, including parks, recreation centers, and sports fields. The department's mission is to provide safe and well-maintained parks and facilities for all visitors while being environmentally conscious. This contract focuses on the maintenance of sports fields (baseball/softball, soccer, multi-purpose) at designated City recreation centers through an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach. The goal is to manage pests effectively while minimizing pesticide use and ensuring the safety of the public and employees.

Work Details

The contractor will provide maintenance services for various sports fields, which includes: 1. Implementing Integrated Pest Management strategies to control pests while minimizing pesticide use. 2. Regular monitoring of pest levels and thresholds to determine when intervention is necessary. 3. Application of approved pesticides as needed, following all safety protocols and regulations. 4. Maintenance of records for all pesticide applications, including dates, products used, and areas treated. 5. Compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pesticide use and safety measures.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on January 1, 2025, with ongoing maintenance services provided throughout the year as needed.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at various designated City recreation centers within Austin, Texas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a valid Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License to apply pesticides on park land. All personnel applying pesticides must be certified applicators or under the direct supervision of a licensed applicator. Bidders are also required to maintain comprehensive liability insurance and adhere to any local or state certifications related to environmental safety.
