Background

The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) is soliciting qualifications for a professional services firm to conduct a Campus Geological and Hydrogeological Study under RFQ No. 26PSS002. This study aims to address challenges related to the lack of geological and hydrogeological data beneath the campus, which has previously led to unexpected groundwater issues during construction. The mission of UT Austin is to provide comprehensive education and contribute to societal advancement through research and public service. The study will help inform future development projects by identifying subsurface conditions and potential groundwater risks.

Work Details

The selected firm will be responsible for: 1. Characterizing geology and hydrogeology beneath UT Austin’s Main Campus; 2. Compiling existing subsurface geological data into a web-based GIS geodatabase; 3. Developing predesign processes to identify problematic subsurface conditions; 4. Evaluating alternative beneficial uses for groundwater; 5. Analyzing impacts of construction due to groundwater; 6. Conducting on-site evaluations of current construction sites with known groundwater impacts; 7. Preparing a detailed GIS-based geodatabase that centralizes geological data; 8. Summarizing findings in a geological report that includes recommendations for future studies.
