Elevator Maintenance & Repair Services

Background

The County of York, Virginia, is seeking bids for Elevator Maintenance and Repair Services as part of its mission to ensure the safe operation and compliance of elevators in government office buildings and facilities within the York County School Division. The current contract with Atlantic BlueRidge Elevator Company will expire on June 30, 2026, necessitating a new contract to maintain service continuity.

Work Details

The contractor will provide comprehensive elevator maintenance and repair services, including: preventive maintenance, routine inspections, testing, adjustments, repairs, replacement of worn or defective components, and 24-hour emergency response. Specific tasks include monthly inspections of all elevator components, functional testing of safety features per Virginia Maintenance Code (VMC) and ASME A17.1 standards, lubrication of moving parts, cleaning of service areas, identification and replacement of defective components, and documentation through monthly service reports detailing inspections and maintenance performed. The contractor must also assist with insurance claims by representing the County and Schools.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period is one year from the date of award with options for four additional one-year renewals at the County's discretion.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various locations in York County, Virginia, including government office buildings and schools as specified in Table A – Elevator Equipment Inventory.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a valid Contractor’s License with Elevator/Escalator (EEC) specialty in good standing with the Commonwealth of Virginia. They must have been in business for at least four years and successfully completed a minimum of three similar projects within that timeframe. All services must be performed by the Contractor without subcontracting unless prior written consent is obtained from the Owner.
