The City of High Point Electric Utilities Department (CHP) is a municipal electric utility seeking proposals from qualified contractors for tree trimming services. The purpose of this contract is to ensure the maintenance of right-of-way clearance along twenty-nine electric distribution circuits, which is essential for the safe operation of the electric utility. The project aims to enhance safety and reliability by managing vegetation that may interfere with power lines.

Work Details

The contractor will perform tree pruning, mowing, brush and tree removal, and vegetation control along CHP electric lines. Specific tasks include: - Right-of-way clearing for 107.7 line miles and 4,381 spans. - Vegetation clearance within specified distances from conductors: - 0-5 ft (12.2 line miles) - 5-10 ft (36.9 line miles) - 10-20 ft (32.1 line miles) - Greater than 20 ft (25.9 line miles). - Tree trimming defined as maintaining a distance of ten feet from the nearest outside conductor. - Removal of trees categorized by diameter at breast height (DBH): - Trim: Trees <12 inches DBH are considered incidental. - Removal rates vary based on size: - 8”-12” - 12”-16” - 16”-20” - 20”-24” - 24” or greater. - The contractor must provide all necessary equipment including bucket trucks, chippers, and hand tools, ensuring they are in good working order and less than ten years old.

Period of Performance

The contract term will be for one year, starting upon award and may be extended if agreed upon by both parties in writing.

The work will be performed in various locations throughout High Point, NC, specifically along the electric distribution circuits managed by the City of High Point.
