Background

The City of Athens is seeking a consultant for the preparation of construction contract plans for the State Route 682/Luhrig-Armitage Road intersection improvement project. This project is part of Phase II of the State Route 682 / State Route 56 Intersection Improvement initiative, aimed at enhancing pedestrian and bikeway user safety by connecting newly developed housing areas to existing city infrastructure.

Work Details

The services to be provided include: - Preparation of construction contract plans for the SR 682/Luhrig-Armitage Rd intersection improvement, approximately 1500 feet in length. - Addition of a roundabout at the intersection. - Extension of a shared use path from the development to the railroad. - Construction of new sidewalks and curb and gutter installations. - The estimated construction cost for this project is $3,500,000. - Engineering and design-related services must comply with prequalification requirements set by ODOT, including financial management system evaluation and various design services such as roadway design, geotechnical engineering, environmental document preparation, and public involvement activities.

Period of Performance

The anticipated date for authorization to proceed is August 2026, with plans to be completed within twenty (20) months from that date. The estimated construction period is from August 2028 to November 2029.

Place of Performance

The project will be performed in the City of Athens, specifically at the State Route 682/Luhrig-Armitage Road intersection.

Bidder Requirements

Consultants must be prequalified by ODOT for various categories including engineering and design-related services. Only individuals (not firms) are eligible for right-of-way acquisition services. Firms on the federal list of suspended or debarred entities are not eligible for selection.
