Wood and Lumber for KCI

Background

The Commonwealth of Kentucky, through the Finance and Administration Cabinet, is issuing this Request for Bid (RFB) to establish a Master Agreement for the procurement of wood and lumber for the Kentucky Correctional Industries (KCI). The KCI operates woodworking plants at the Green River Correctional Complex (GRCC) in Central City, KY, and the Little Sandy Correctional Complex (LSCC) in Elliott County, KY. The goal of this contract is to source multiple options for lumber needed to produce various wood products such as desks and cabinets, with an average annual requirement of approximately 30,000 square feet of lumber.

Work Details

The contract requires vendors to supply various types of hardwood lumber suitable for furniture fabrication. Specific requirements include: - Lumber must be furniture-grade, kiln-dried, straight, dimensionally stable, and free from excessive knots, checks, splits, warping, or other defects affecting structural integrity or appearance. - Vendors must provide details on their quality assurance processes and logistics capabilities including fleet capacity and delivery estimates. - Bidders are required to submit a Bid Price Sheet (Attachment C) with their actual pricing while entering $0.01 in the Unit Price field electronically. - The groups for bidding include Hardwood Plywood (Veneer Core), Veneered MDF Panels, Particle Board (Composite Panel Products), Rough Hardwood Lumber, and Pallet Products.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period will last for one year from the date of award with options to extend for four additional two-year periods upon mutual agreement.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at the Green River Correctional Complex located at 1200 River Road, Central City, KY 42330 and the Little Sandy Correctional Complex in Elliott County, KY.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with specific requirements including: registration in the Commonwealth eProcurement System; submission of Revenue Form 10A100 for tax registration; compliance with accessibility standards; and adherence to nondiscrimination laws as outlined in KRS 45.560 to 45.640. Additionally, bidders must not have any violations of certain statutes within the last five years.
