Background

The University of Texas at Austin, established in 1883, is the flagship public research institution of the University of Texas System. The university supports over 53,000 students and employs approximately 23,000 staff and faculty members. Its mission encompasses excellence in education, research, and public service. The Campus Operations and Planning (COP) department is responsible for constructing and maintaining facilities that support the university's educational goals. A significant challenge faced by UT Austin is the lack of geological and hydrogeological data beneath its campus, which has led to unforeseen complications during construction projects. This solicitation seeks to address these challenges through a comprehensive geological and hydrogeological study.

Work Details

The selected firm will conduct a detailed geological and hydrogeological study of the UT Austin Main Campus. Key tasks include: - Characterizing geology and hydrogeology beneath the campus to understand groundwater volume and flow. - Compiling existing subsurface geological data into a centralized GIS geodatabase for easy access. - Developing predesign processes to identify problematic subsurface conditions and recommend remediation strategies. - Analyzing impacts of construction on groundwater and identifying beneficial uses for groundwater. - Conducting on-site evaluations at locations with known groundwater issues such as NEZ, Mulva Hall, and others. - Preparing a detailed report summarizing findings, including data gaps and recommendations for future studies.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence on approximately October 20, 2026, following a selection process that includes submission deadlines on July 17, 2026.
