Background

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) is seeking proposals from qualified operators to lease and manage its newly renovated restaurant facility at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market in Guilford County. The goal is to operate a family-friendly restaurant that complements North Carolina farmers, agriculture, and consumers, enhancing the overall visitor experience at one of the state's premier agricultural destinations.

Work Details

The selected tenant will operate a restaurant, diner, eatery, grill, café, or bistro with a family-friendly bar area. The operation should focus on comfort food, fresh ingredients, and locally sourced products. The facility consists of approximately 6,764 square feet and includes a commercial kitchen, two dining areas, a meeting space, and a bar area. The tenant will be responsible for all kitchen equipment and furnishings necessary for restaurant operations. The premises are leased 'as is', with any improvements at the Proposer's expense. A commitment to offering North Carolina products is preferred.

Period of Performance

The lease is anticipated to commence on September 1, 2026, with an initial term of five (5) to ten (10) years and options for renewal.

Bidder Requirements

Proposers must be registered as a legal entity under North Carolina law before the transaction is placed on the Council of State agenda. They must also provide evidence of relevant operational experience in the food service industry and maintain an 'A' sanitation rating with the Guilford County Health Department.
