OR FLAP DOT CRGNSA 100(9), Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, Perham Creek to Mitchell Point

Background

The project, OR FLAP DOT CRGNSA 100(9), is focused on the construction of a trail along the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, specifically from Perham Creek to Mitchell Point. This initiative is part of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and aims to enhance recreational access while preserving the natural beauty of the region. The contract is issued by an agency dedicated to maintaining and improving infrastructure in scenic areas, ensuring that both environmental and community needs are met. Work Details: The scope of work includes extensive trail construction tasks such as: clearing, excavation, grading, wall construction, bridge building, drainage installation, and laying aggregate-base and asphalt surface courses. Specific tasks include constructing a single span concrete girder bridge (approximately 45 feet long) with a cast-in-place concrete deck and another single span concrete girder bridge (approximately 73 feet long) also with a cast-in-place concrete deck. All abutments for these bridges will be founded on micropiles. Additional work involves soil erosion control measures, earthwork activities including clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, structural backfill for bridges, placement of riprap for slope reinforcement, asphalt pavement installation, and various incidental construction tasks such as installing culverts and fencing. Period of Performance: The contract is expected to be performed with a tentative completion date in Winter 2026. The solicitation for this project is anticipated to be issued in Fall 2025. Place of Performance: The construction projects will take place approximately 5 miles west of Hood River, Oregon.
