The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, through its Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM), is issuing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO No. 2027-CAM-01) for the Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MMAP). This program aims to solicit responses from qualified entities interested in grant funding aimed at modernizing and improving manufacturing operations. The mission of Mass Tech Collaborative is to foster a robust manufacturing ecosystem in Massachusetts by aligning investments with state vision and leveraging existing programs for regional impact.
The MMAP provides accelerator support and grant funding specifically for small- and medium-sized manufacturers (defined as those with fewer than 500 employees) in Massachusetts. The program aims to help these manufacturers adopt new technologies, improve operational efficiencies, and prepare for evolving market demands. Selected applicants will undergo a third-party assessment to identify effective capital purchases necessary for their operations. Eligible capital expenditures include the purchase of new or used equipment and software that qualifies as a capital expenditure under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ineligible expenses include land acquisition, construction of new buildings, renovation of existing facilities, salaries, training costs, and any work completed before the application submission date. The program also includes cohort activities such as peer-to-peer learning and expert guidance to enhance capabilities in areas like digital transformation, AI, automation, quality assurance, and workforce upskilling.
Grant funds must be spent within eighteen (18) months following the execution of a grant agreement with the nonprofit partner selected by CAM.
All equipment purchased with grant funds must remain in Massachusetts for a minimum of five (5) years after installation.
Eligible applicants must be Massachusetts-based manufacturers with fewer than 500 employees. Previous recipients of MassTech MMAP grants are not eligible to apply. All applications must demonstrate alignment with accelerator priorities and provide a required match contribution: 50% for grants up to $100,000 and 100% for grants between $100,001 and $300,000. The match can include capital or non-capital expenditures or in-kind contributions but cannot include funding from other state sources.
